Child Friendly Corner at WBCPCR


A Child Friendly Room has been set up in the Commission in January 2018 as children are often brought here for hearing of cases.

Many cases of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) are being heard in the commission. At the same time, cases in which children suffer due to dispute between parents are also heard in the commission.

West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights (WBCPCR) is the first among such commissions in all other states in the country to have a child friendly space in its office, where children will feel relaxed to speak out freely in a "convivial atmosphere".

Child Friendly Corner at Shantiniketan Poush Mela 2017


The commission has decided that from 2016 the poush mela at Shantiniketan would be celebrated as a "Child Friendly and Child Labour free fair". This is for the first time in the state of West Bengal a fair or festival had been recognised as a Child Labour Free Fair. In 2017 West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights (WBCPCR) organised a Child Friendly corner in Poushmela in collaboration with the District Administration of Birbhum. Each chlild was given a hand band stating their name, address and contact numbers. This band was available in all hotels, rail stations; bus terminus and bus station and at all entrance gates of the fair.

Child Friendly Corner at 42nd International Kolkata Book Fair


West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights (WBCPCR) has organised a Child friendly stall at 42nd International Kolkata Book Fair in the month of January, 2018 where the children across Kolkata and nearby districts performed and renowned personalities also participated, performed and took sessions on child sexual abuse, origami etc.
