‘Forever is the sweetest con’

I'm just 17 and it feels like forever. How long is forever? Is it till the tree sheds all its leaves? Is it till it keeps
growing new ones and eventually dies? Or is it till its last flower remains between the pages of a diary? Because
I have never stopped questioning forever.
I have seen forever wash away like footprints on the sand, I have seen forever slip away like water between the
fingers, and I have seen forever in a beautifully wrapped box with nothing inside.
But I have also seen forever painted with the last drop of colour, I have seen forever grow from seeds thrown
unknowingly, and I have seen forever in the stain of that last flower between the pages of a diary.
Forever has always been believing in fairytales even when you are a grown up. It is the most ambiguous thing we
all try to believe in.
So tell me, how long is forever?

Oh wanderer of flora, tell me why
I can’t resist my eyes from looking at you when you fly
Where you came from and where is your home?
Where you fly across...which palace, which dome?

Looks prepossessing and wings are white,
A joyful heart with a confident flight
This flower to that, white to red
So small and weak, but not afraid

Where you came from and where is your home?
Everyday all around why do you roam?
To speak to it many times after I had tried
The beautiful thing listened to me and finally replied

“All the directions, as far as you can see
Anywhere in any bush, I may be
Everywhere is my home and you know why?
It’s very simple...coz I am a butterfly”.
